"Idea Man" kann ich nur empfehlen. Interessantes Leben, nicht nur über Microsoft und "Space Ship One“, Museum of Pop Culture, MoPOP (früher EMP Museum), Seattle Seahawks....
War einige Zeit Gast mit meiner Tochter auf Mercer Island (Seattle), wo sowohl Paul Allen und Bill Gates in direkter Nachbarschaft wohnen und die Inselbewohner (zumindest diejenigen, mit denen ich engeren Kontakt hatte), mochten überwiegend Bill Gates und Paul Allen war "the bad guy". Nicht nur wegen seiner Baupläne und dem Heli-Landeplatz auf seinem Grundstück. Bei Bill Gates hatten die direkten Nachbarn nichts gegen seine Baupläne. Auf Mercer Island ist es nicht erlaubt, Hochhäuser zu bauen. Leider
gibt es aus früheren Zeiten ein mittelhohes Haus.
Bin mehrmals direkt am Haus / Anwesen von Gates vorbeigesegelt. Holz und Glas und viel Grün.
Mitsegler hatten direkt mit Bill G. zu tun.
In the mid-2000s, the government of Mercer Island–or whatever entity makes these decisions–declined Mister Allen’s request to put a helipad on one of his properties. Ever the problem solver, Mister Allen skirted around the matter and purchased a funky, flat-topped watercraft that on top of which a helicopter can land. The famous floating helipad chugs out into Lake Washington where the whirlygig sets down and then returns to the dock. Problem solved and, it seems, a big ol‘ fuck you to the people who declined his request for an onshore landing pad.
