"Will-to-please"-Eigenschaften.

Zum Song >

Bei Bob C. aus Germantown / Maryland hat die Erklärung:

"Fox On The Run" - which is widely considered a classic bluegrass song.

- Link on Anthony Hazzard, an Englishman who wrote the song: Tony Hazzard

- Note in the above bio that Hazzard was born in Liverpool, and played the guitar and ukulele!

- The British rock band, Manfred Mann, first cut the song in 1968. It reached #5 on the UK Pop music chart.

- The song's crossover from pop/rock to bluegrass has been attributed to banjo picker Bill Emerson. The story is that Bill Emerson heard the Manfred Mann version on his car radio and introduced the song to bluegrass via his band, Emerson and Waldron. Mike Auldridge was a dobro player in that band, and brought the song to the Seldom Scene (a local WASHDC bluegrass band) who performed and recorded the song. Emerson later joined the Country Gentlemen (a Virginia-based bluegrass band) who performed and recorded their version of the song. And so the song becomes endeared to many bluegrass fans.

- "Fox on the Run" got another big boost when Nashville songwriter Tom T. Hall cut it on a bluegrass tribute album, and the song climbed to #1 on the Billboard country music charts in 1976.

So... the song was written by an English musician/songwriter who played the ukulele! And it was made universal in recordings and performances by 2 local bluegrass bands! T
