Eine Albertanerin, geboren in Calgary, beschrieb mir den Hintergrund des etwas älteren Trudeau-Jokes:
"....All people from Alberta were the mortal enemy of Justin Trudeau’s father during his long gig as the Prime Minister. Those days it was the East vs the West and Trudeau was considered to be East Canada and Alberta people were not liberal but very strong conservative. Justin holds his father's temper, his reaction to provocation and his arrogance as well."
The Joke:
"A comedian came to do a show in the jubilee auditorium in Calgary. This performer looked up for each city attitudes or ideas that he could use to make the humor special for his audience and he was told that all Albertan hated Pierre Elliott Trudeau.
So in the middle of his act he yelled “That Prime Minister Trudeau is a horse’s ass!” and to his surprise the audience booed and hissed and threw fruit at him and they had to drag his unconscious body off the stage,
He came to in the dressing room and was extremely upset. “I thought you said Albertan hated Trudeau” he yelled at the stage manager,
"They do hate him”, replied the manager, “but it just so happens they love horses.”

Aus gegebenen Anlass habe ich mir "JUST WATCH ME - THE LIFE OF PIERRE ELLIOTT TRUDEAU -

To Bob English
Who never voted for Trudeau but now wishes he had
I could write several novels about what I do not know.
